This site is to offer the children's book that tells the story of Gaspar, a very brave toucan. Gaspar's experience is that he felt inferior to the other birds of the forest, because with a very large beak, he could not sing even like other birds much smaller than himself.
The book's proposal is to work in a pedagogical way in children's minds about the phisical differences that each one of us can have, and thus prepare them to live in a world without bullying, prejudice and discrimination.

THE BOOK´S PROJECT

Hi Gaspar! I'd be happy to explain. 

The book “The Adventures of Gaspar, the Brave Toucan” was born with the idea of encouraging parents to make children aware of the importance of seeing their peers as equals. 

Despite appearing to be just a simple children's storybook, Gaspar and his friends give us a precious message about the importance of respecting each person's physical differences.

So, through the example set by Gaspar, we should teach children to develop a spirit of brotherhood and grow up seeing everyone around them as normal people, each with their own characteristics, even if some have physical, mental or sensory disabilities.

THE CULTURE OF DEROGATORY NICKNAMES. 
Unfortunately, we live in a society where this is a common practice, which can have a devastating effect on the head of the person who receives the nickname, because it is usually attributed to the person's physical characteristics or behavior. Therefore, this practice of derogatory nicknames must also be combated.

ATTENTION PARENTS: 
Bullying, discrimination and prejudice lead to untold suffering.
Only those who suffer from bullying can give an idea of the inner despair of the emotional suffering it causes.


*** Please, be careful to avoid your children to be victims of bullying, prejudice and discrimination, even more so in case of physical, mental or sensory disabilities.
*** Do not allow your children to bully other people, especially those with physical, mental or sensory disabilities.

This is my message, which is why Gaspar and I hope to make many parents aware of this issue, so that they can teach their children how to behave towards a friend who has any imperfections, and not to emphasize any physical, mental or sensory differences.
